About Delina

Delina Brooks is a Black and Filipino comedy-drama writer who was raised in San Francisco and reborn in Oakland. It was there, where she developed into a writer-producer and received more than $100K in grants and commissions. The Zellerbach Family Foundation, East Bay Community Foundation and The City of Oakland’s Cultural Funding Program are among the many organizations which seeded Delina’s work. She has been nominated for three Isadora Duncan Awards, winning in 2015 for Outstanding Ensemble Performance in “An Open Love Letter to Black Fathers”, an interdisciplinary stage play which Delina wrote, produced, directed and starred in. Since moving to Los Angeles in 2018, she has been a Showrunner’s Assistant on WOKE (HULU), THE REL SHOW (FOX) and UNRELATED/BESTIES (pilot, FREEFORM), and a Director’s Assistant on INSECURE (HBO), WOKE (S2, HULU), GRAND CREW (NBC) and NONE OF THE ABOVE (pilot, ABC). Because she can never pick just one, Delina holds a Master’s Degree in Ethnic Studies (SFSU) and two Bachelor’s Degrees in Ethnic Studies (CSU EB) and Kinesiology (SFSU). A multi-hyphenate at heart, Delina's work often marries story with music, and passionately champions troubled women who learn to save themselves.
