About Nina

Nina Martinez is a Latinx writer and producer, born and raised in the Rio Grande Valley. Nina's feature screenplay 'CHALE' won Best Dramatic Screenplay in the Fort Worth Indie Film Showcase and was a semi-finalist in the Finish Line Script Competition and the Chicago Screenplay Awards. Recently, her pilot 'Some Such Place' advanced as a Second Rounder in Austin Film Festival's Script Competition.

Her short films have been recognized by the Cinesol Film Festival where she was awarded Best Under 18 Film and Best Editing. Nina has also produced several humanitarian-aid-based documentaries for the RGK Center for Philanthropy and Community Service at UT Austin's LBJ School of Public Affairs.

Nina graduated from The University of Texas at Austin in 2020 with a Bachelor of Science in Radio-TV-Film with a focus on creative writing. During the 2020 summer, Nina participated in UT Austin's UTLA program where she interned with UNTITLED Entertainment and Citizen Jones. After the UTLA program, Nina was accepted and completed her MFA in Screenwriting at UT Austin.

Nina works as the Associate Gaming Editor for Downright Creepy, a horror entertainment news and podcast company.
