Maty Young

Maty was born and raised in Perth, Western Australia. Having begun performing both as an actor and musician at a very young age he went on to attended the prestigious West Australian Academy of Performing Arts (with previous graduates ranging from Hugh Jackman and Frances O'Connor to Tim Minchin) where he solidified his love of stage and performance.

Over the past 20 years Maty has performed and toured with Perth, Melbourne , state and internationally based theatre companies as well as performed with, directed and written for students and graduates from all three of Australia's leading acting conservatories NIDA (National Institute of Dramatic Art), WAAPA (Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts) & VCA (Victorian College of the Arts).

In 2015 he founded the production company YoungOneStudio in Melbourne, Victoria, then in 2018, together with his partner Tamiah Bantum, they brought the business to LA.

Maty has gone on to direct and film award winning films, music videos, commercials and some of Hollywoods best upcoming talent as well as helming the role of cinematographer on a feature film currently airing on HBO Max which recently screened at the 2022 Festival de Cannes.

With awards in directing and cinematography spanning the USA, Australia and Europe with films airing at the likes of Festival de Cannes, the Paris Cinema Awards, Micheaux Film Festival, San Francisco Film Festival, Berlin Film Festival, New York Movie Awards, New York Film Festival, Outfest LA to name only a few, as well as being an awarded Australian actor, Maty continues to operate Young One Studio out of North Hollywood and most recently became a panel judge for the prestigious LA Grassroots Film Festival.
