Fernando De Franceschi

Hi my name is Fernando de Franceschi, and I’m a film Director and Photographer.
I started my career filming breaking news, I began with sport and politic and I ended up being war correspondent from Afghanistan and Libya.
I remember once editing in the back seat of a car running at more than 90m miles per hour, trying to avoid the folding of Gaddafi’s army, and delivering the package in the middle of the desert at night via ftp.
The good thing about breaking news is that you travel for free and in your free time, when and if you have it, you can enjoy the services of luxury hotel. The bad one is that the story you work on has to have your eye, the reporter content and the news Director politic line.
A few years ago I realized 2 things: The 1st one is that I don’t want to compromise any more.
The second one is that, I want to live for ever.
That was when I turned my career into film directing in one side and I made my hobby, Photography, into a paid job in the other.
Directing has always been my dream, I do write screenplays as well, so in the past I spent most of my free time imagine story and thinking how to shoot them. When finally I have been commissioned my first job as Director and I stepped on the set for the first time it felt like I’d been doing it since the beginning of my career.
What fascinates me about photography is that unlike videos you tell a story with one click, one shot, the right one, where a video needs seconds, maybe minutes and hundreds of frames. One against hundreds.
At the moment I have a few projects in a different stage of development and I am also working on photos events.
