Yana is a village which is known for the unusual rock formations (Karst) or (Asteroid). The two rock monoliths or hillocks, surrounded by thick forests and streams, rise sharply above the surrounding area near Yana village. They are part of the Sahyadri hill range in the Western Ghats in South India and give a conspicuous identity to Yana and the entire hill range. The Badami cave temples are a complex of four Hindu, Jain and possibly Buddhist cave temples. The caves are considered an example of Indian rock-cut architecture, especially Badami Chalukya architecture, which dates back to the 6th century. Golconda Fort ("shepherd's hill fort"), is a citadel and fort in Southern India and was the capital of the medieval sultanate of the Qutb Shahi dynasty (c.1518–1687). The region is known for the mines that have produced some of the world's most famous gems, including the Koh-i-Noor, the Hope Diamond and the Nassak Diamond.
