Jabari McDonald is a queer Black comedy writer and producer from Long Beach, California. Most recently he was the Writers’ Assistant on the HBO Max show GREEN LANTERN. Prior to that he was the Writers’ PA on Netflix’s SPACE FORCE and Amazon’s UPLOAD. Jabari participated in the 2021 Outfest Screenwriting Lab with his pilot Black Mud and the 2019/2020 New York Stage & Film Filmmaker Workshop with his pilot [Un]Supervised. He was a finalist in the Disney TV Writers Program and second rounder in the Sundance Episodic Lab in both 2021 and 2020. In 2018 he was a Film Fellow at the American Black Film Festival | Laugh Out Loud Network (Kevin Hart) with his short film, Dry Kleaners. Jabari holds an MFA in Film from Columbia University and BA in Film & Media Studies. While in grad school he interned at Braven Films and was Producer’s Assistant on the feature film, SNAKEHEAD. Short films he has produced have screened at Austin Film Festival, RiverRun Int’l Film Festival, Salento Int’l Film Festival, Afrikana Film Festival, Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival, Pasadena Int’l Film Festival, and the Katra Film Series.
