About Carol

Musician, Voice Talent, News Reporter, Writer in Portland, Oregon

In the late 80's, under the moniker of "Ursela D", Carol started out her strange musical career as lead singer for Detente Touch, one of the many starving grunge bands who never made it out of the Pacific Northwest.

In the 90's Carol moved to Napa Valley where she raised a wonderful son while attending Sonoma State University. Fell in love with RADIO and earned her sound-gal stripes busting butt for the SSU Center for the Performing Arts.

After college, Carol was publicist and radio promotions for world music record label Tinder Records and a film critic for syndicated web portal UncleWebster. She learned how to make anything a hit on college radio and how to count swear words in a dark theater without making others angry. Vital in her early career development.

Carol's big radio break came at FM 100 KZST in Santa Rosa, as fill in News Anchor and weekend DJ. Then FT newsroom status came at News/Talk 1350 KSRO as Producer of KSRO Morning News with Hudson and Page, The Pat Thurston Show and The News According To Spencer Hughes. She also did everything else under the sun there besides make coffee including promotions director, engineer for remotes, produce and often host specialty programming including basketball and election coverage and infomercial style client-paid programming.

In 2005, Carol headed home and landed a premium night shift in Portland as host of KUPL on Shuffle and then later pulled double-duty handling morning news for both New Country 98-7 KUPL and K-HiTs 106-7.

Carol was unexpectedly beached during the CBS Radio sale of its cluster to Alpha Broadcasting in August of 2008 and after bawling her eyes out enjoyed a healthy round of unemployment, while living with her son and her cat in Portlandia. This exciting time for Carol included a short stint playing guitar in a female AC/DC cover band, hosting karaoke while working towards her Arts degree at PSU.

2010-2013 Carol found new and improved ways of losing her mind, driving in circles, smelling horrible things and telling stories to strangers. Driving taxi for Radio Cab kept her sharp for radio until she started her own business reporting traffic from home. She now provides traffic and information to drivers in Miami, Jacksonville Palm Beach and Tampa via smart phone app in partnership with four law enforcement agencies in Florida. In her spare time Carol is playing with sounds and images and is making wild, fun experimental, electronic music as da Batchelor Party on Reverb Nation!
