Originally from Caracas, Venezuela, Yulia was born to Russian parents and spent her childhood traveling. Films have always been her passion and she has been a storyteller since early childhood. Having a vast imagination she started writing short stories at the age of ten. Mentored by her grandfather, she learned photography and film from the capture, to development and manual editing in a dark room.
In 2008, Yulia came to the US fleeing Venezuela’s communist regime. As an immigrant, Yulia had to adapt to a completely different lifestyle, make new friends, and learn a new culture. All these experiences took her back to her passion for storytelling. She obtained her MFA from New York Film Academy, where she studied Filmcraft and then, discovering her true calling as producer, she went back for her second Master’s degree in Film/ TV Producing.
