THE LONGEST SUBWAY RIDE

THE LONGEST SUBWAY RIDE
By Douglas King

GENRE: Action, Comedy
LOGLINE:

When Murphy's Law is in full force on the day of David Swanson's biggest job interview, he must overcome multiple challenges and mistaken identity in the underground world of New York's subway system or risk losing his girl friend and his dream job.

SYNOPSIS:

David Swanson, it would appear, has finally received his big break. In six hours, he is scheduled to interview with Michael Overend, Deputy Mayor, for the position of Communications Director with the New York City’s Mayor’s office. He has six hours to take a subway ride that should take less than 30 minutes. “Should” being the operative word.

Instead, David stumbles through a series of unwanted and unexpected encounters and adventures that lead him into the belly, and oftentimes underbelly, of New York City. Along the way, David will interact with a gang of bank robbers, a performance art troupe, a homeless colony, and a vigilante elderly couple. Almost sounds like an average day in New York. No matter what David does or whom he talks to, nothing seems to help him escape from the tomb of the city’s subway systems.

Adding salt to an open wound, David is mistaken for the notorious Mole-Man, one of New York’s most wanted criminals. All David wants is to get to his interview, but he unwillingly becomes the target of a citywide manhunt. As if that weren’t enough, his girlfriend, with whom he is experiencing relationship problems, can’t assist him; as a metro reporter for a major newspaper, she is hot on the trail of the story of the Mole-Man’s capture. Oh, if she only knew.

In the end, David reaches the surface only to be confronted with the whole of New York’s police force, the media—including his girlfriend—and the Mayor and Deputy Mayor, whom he was supposed to interview with originally.

The Longest Subway Ride is one man’s unwanted adventure through New York’s vast underground world. From high concept to action-adventure, this is one day never to be forgotten.
