About Jeff

I hate 555 numbers. I hate characters not saying ‘bye’ when they hang up. I hate characters saying ‘as you know,’ and referring to someone by their full name when they would clearly just use their first.

I love realism.

I love stories of people forced to choose between two options: bad, and worse. Idealism is a luxury that most people in human history haven’t had, no matter how hard they strove for it. That tension - between a person’s beliefs and the choices they make to accomplish their goals - drives my passion for story.

I love characters that are shaped by deep-seated resentment and pain that fundamentally defines their behavior and their personhood.

I love exploring characters in obscure industries and underrepresented cultures. Every culture or industry has been ‘unsellable’ until someone does it well. There’s a shared humanity to be found in everything - through the human experience.

I want to be the one who does it well. And believe it or not - I’m an optimist.

I'm a writer/director, with years of experience directing documentaries across five continents. My narrative short La Deuda recently concluded a multi-year run on HBO Latino and HBO Max.
