Nicholas James Goulden

I’m an innately empathic director with a passion for powerful, character-driven narratives. With broad life experience and a lifelong interest in people and what makes them tick, I am able to adapt my approach to draw out the best possible performances. From the fabulous to the ridiculous, the awful to the wonderful, I like to build strong and interesting central characters that explore human nature in all its guises.

Naturally collaborative and with a strong knowledge of film grammar, I have over 15 years of experience in the industry. Moving to London in 2005, I found my way into the industry through unpaid and underpaid projects, initially funded by part-time work outside of the industry. Earning a reputation for hard work, cheerfulness and endurance, I established myself as a 1st AD in both film and high end commercials, all the while directing and producing my own material and developing my style.

I have won several awards for my work, most recently for Forget Me Not, which scooped Best Film and Best Drama awards across three continents.
