Amanda Paige Young is a Los Angeles based writer and director focused on telling dramatic thriller stories of outsiders; women who find themselves cornered, both literally and figuratively; and stories of the ghosts that haunt them. Amanda grew up on the east coast in a huge Catholic Family. As a kid, she loved nothing more than making movies with her sisters and cousins, but beneath the surface, there were family secrets. Think the grit, drama and dark humor of Mare of Easttown, but in real life. Right after college, Amanda went on to become a videographer and photographer for some of the biggest acts in music, including Carrie Underwood and Taylor Swift. Amanda would shoot concert photography as her day job, then write and make short films on the weekends. Meanwhile, the unraveling of secrets back home deeply inspired Amanda’s filmmaking work. Her debut short film Love, Gwen was inspired by true events in her family, centered around drug abuse and human trafficking.
Amanda moved to Los Angeles to focus on writing and directing in 2019. Her pilot Half-Hanged Mary was a finalist in the 2022 Austin Film Festival AMC One-Hour Pilot Category; and she was a fellow in the Alliance of Women Directors 2020 Shadowing Mentorship Program. She is an alumnus of Chapman University’s Dodge College of Film. Amanda is a member of the LGBTQ community. When she’s not working, she is spending time with her girlfriend, an attorney, with whom she swears she doesn’t argue for obvious reasons.
