Hi Michael, I'm an editor looking for work at a post house or studio post department. I want to edit movies or episodic TV. I'm trained on the Avid and I've used Final Cut here and there but mostly I've been using Premiere. I'm also growing my skills in After Effects and Mocha. I've been searching hard for a steady job or a steady string of jobs and I could use some advice. I've joined some users groups and I'm going to attend the Lacpug meeting and The Editor Lounge meeting this week as well. Who is the best person to contact in a post house or studio. Is it the Post-Production Coordinator like yourself or the recruiter? Any career has a starting point, and while I would like to start as an Editor, I realize I may have to start in a support position. I'd like to learn more and show them what I can do so that I can become a full time editor. I don't mind starting as an Assistant Editor or Apprentice Editor or Jr. VFX artist. Hey Michael, a few days ago we implemented a new privacy setting to give you the option of accepting private messages only from users within your network. Today, I discovered a bug with the way this option is set for new users. I just wanted to let you know that the bug is now fixed, so all members are now able to receive private messages from any other member (the default setting). If you'd like to receive private messages only from users within your network, you can change this setting here. Also, you can access your privacy settings at any time from the drop-down menu that appears when you hover over your profile photo in the upper right-hand corner of the page.
