BALKANIZED AT SUNRISE

BALKANIZED AT SUNRISE
By Joe Tripician

GENRE: Adventure, Comedy, Drama, Historical, Thriller
LOGLINE:

Based on a true story, a sci-fi author is hired to write the official biography of a Balkan dictator, but when he falls in over his head, and in love, his life becomes threatened.

SYNOPSIS:

In the immediate aftermath of the bloody Balkan wars of the 90s, a penniless science-fiction author is hired to write the official biography of Croatia's President, Franjo Tudjman.

In an effort to keep Tudjman out of the War Crimes Tribunal in The Hague, the Croatian government hires Joe Tripician, the author of "The Official Alien Abductee's Handbook", to pen a state-sanctioned biography for US consumption.

Once in the Balkans, Joe navigates between toadying government aides, lying politicians, harassed dissident journalists, and Croatian and Bosnian women looking for a quick visa.

Believing that there is no problem that can't be solved through erotic passion, he misplaces his trust in the first Balkan woman he meets. She is a double agent for the opposing regimes, and he soon becomes a target of both governments, as well as opposition militants.

He surreptitiously meets with an anonymous source: a high-ranking government official who gives him a series of faxes which detail the President's orders to establish death camps.

With the help and trust of a feisty Bosnian woman, he discovers a secret war, and his own integrity. He confronts the leader of this secret war, and takes a final stand that is shocking, comic and touching.

"Balkanized at Sunrise" is a dramatic and often darkly comic tale of deception, danger, death and desire, where guilt abounds, but responsibility remains elusive.
