SYNOPSIS:

(Currently Under Option) The Mighty Pick is a comedy about a safecracker who tries to escape the shadow of his domineering brother by pulling his own bank heist, only to find his brother's gang robbing the same bank on the same night. With an emphasis on screwball relationships, working-class settings, and a few tight action sequences, The Mighty Pick is a bank heist caper that translates well in any market. Mick “The Pick” Peters is the best safecracker you’re ever going to meet. With nothing but a deft touch and his lucky toy stethoscope, Mick is the only thing that keeps his brother Dodger’s gang of petty thieves in business. Mick has bigger dreams than lifting petty cash and costume jewelry. He wants to pull off a proper job – a bank job – and he knows he can do it, if only Dodger would let him plan the heist. But Dodger is happy with the current chain of command, and during a practice run, he sets Mick up to get caught pulling a minor-break in, just to keep him in line. Furious, Mick quits the gang and sets out on his own. While fulfilling his community service requirement for the court, Mick meets Penny, one of those Holly Golightly types who insists she’s not flighty, even after she tricks Mick into helping her steal a car for the fun of it. Mick slowly introduces her to the world of safecracking. Mick sets his sight on a bank so secure that it features a new, high-tech outer vault that has been built around the bank’s original vault, which itself was designed by an eccentric genius whose lock designs have never been beaten. It’s the challenge Mick’s been itching for his whole life. Mick assembles his team of drivers, bag men, and demolitions experts, only to run into an unexpected snag; Dodger has figured out what he’s up to, and plans to upstage Mick by robbing the bank before Mick can. The two brothers race to beat each other to the punch, and Mick manages to get an inside edge when Penny gets a job as a bank teller. But on the night of the robbery, Mick arrives to find that Dodger’s team is already in place. The brothers are at each other’s throats until they’re interrupted by a third team: a group of vicious, ruthless professionals who will gladly kill Mick, Dodger, and anyone else who gets in their way. Mick and Dodger have to work together before they lose everything. But can these bickering brothers set aside their differences long enough to catch their cutthroat rivals, recover the loot, save their friends, and escape to steal another day?
