About Srdjan

Born 1983, in Sarajevo (Bosnia&Herzegovina), Srdjan grew up in Greece, escaping the war in 1992 and has been living in Amsterdam - The Netherlands since 2003.

Srdjan graduated from the Conservatory of Amsterdam (BMus) in 2007 and the Utrechts Conservatorium (MMus) in 2009.

In 2008 he created the band Blazin' Quartet with which in July 2008 he won the prestigious “Dutch Jazz Competition”, at finals held at North Sea Jazz Festival in Rotterdam. They performed around the Netherlands, a.o. making the Young VIPs Tour 2009, playing at North Sea Jazz Festival 2008, 2009 and 2010, competing in the EBU European Jazz Competition and performed around the globe as far as Brasil and China. He published the album Finding A Way (2009 Challenge) and Jalkan Bazz (2012 Challenge), both critically acclaimed.
He won the 1st prize at the 2008 Holland Casino Jazz&Pop Award, being appraised by the jury for the originality of both his compositions and playing.

Besides composing for his bands he has also composed music for film and theatre. (“The Man With 100 Children” by Vuk Janic, “Hrysippus” - DasArts).

He has also played as a musician/actor in the play "Blik" (directed by Aus Greidanus) of the acclaimed De Appel theater-group, performing at Oerol Festival and at the Appeltheatre in The Hague.
