About Fridtjof

Twenty three year old debut director Fridtjof Ryder grew up between Berlin and Gloucester and has been writing as long as he can remember, first in prose form, completing a novel aged fifteen and his first short film in the same year. Influenced heavily by time spent acting in the theatre he swiftly became fascinated with film as a polymorphic medium, encompassing performance, image, dialogue, and sound – a melting pot of all his loves.

Ever since this time Fridtjof has been writing both prose and screenplays and directing short films, including a National Film and Television School showcase starring BAFTA nominated actor Ronald Pickup. He has also just premiered his debut feature film Inland, at the BFI London Film Festival in competition, which he wrote, directed and produced. The film stars Oscar winner Mark Rylance, Rory Alexander and NYFCC winner Kathryn Hunter. The film will be released in 2023. He is currently developing a number of both original screenplays and adaptations.
