My name is Cezar Covataru, I was born in Romania, I have been living in the UK for 8 years and I would like to know if a collaboration would be possible with Netflix, HBO, or BBC. And if the answer is Yes, how could STAGE32 help?
I have some experience in photography and cinematography activities, and for this reason, I have been thinking for some time to make two indie films, based on personal experiences.
The first will be a film about a family that chose to move from an apartment to a boat and now lives in the middle of nature, on the British canals. The boat is powered only by solar energy, so it is completely non-polluting, economical, and silent.
The second film is about the life of a woman from Ukraine and how dramatically the course of her existence has changed in the last year, after the Russian invasion and her refuge in the UK.
These films seem to be documentaries, but I will insist that they are closer to an artistic scenario.
The reason for the first film is that I have been concerned with houseboats for several years, I discovered the incredible history of waterways in the UK, created before there were railways, roads, cars, or even the steam engine. For two years I have been working in a company that produces electric houseboats in London.
The reason for the second film is that I am half Ukrainian, my father was born in Ukraine (then the family moved to Romania). Immediately after the Russian invasion of Ukraine, I remembered how disoriented I was 8 years ago when I had just arrived in the UK and knew almost nothing about life in this country. I created a Facebook group of support and advice for Ukrainian newcomers in the UK, called "Ukrainians refugees in London". From a few members at the beginning, the group grew in one year to over 2500 - and continues to grow. I follow topics of interest and post tips about prices, rents, jobs, exchanging documents such as a car license, and fast and efficient methods of learning English or improving it. I sometimes come into contact with shocking life stories and I think I have an extremely rich source of inspiration for a film on this topic.
I would like to ask you if any of these two films would be of interest to be broadcast on your network. In case of an affirmative answer, I would like you to specify the general conditions of the collaboration but also the technical conditions, the minimum quality requirements required by a film made at a professional level. Based on useful experiences in many years of activity in photography, photographic laboratory for chemical processing of photos, but also filming in the field, and film editing; I am now developing my skills in electronic film editing. I am planning to purchase a BlackMagic 6K camera, it will complement the high-performance computer with which I edit the videos.
Thank you for your patience in reading this rather long text.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
