Tyler McClain

John Tyler McClain is a Los Angeles-based writer for film and television. From the panhandle of Texas by way of Las Vegas, his work is heavily influenced by the spectacle of a youth misspent loitering on the Strip. On the page, he explores grounded emotional experiences through the prism of high-concept hooks. Since earning his MFA in playwriting from UCLA, his pilot Marfa was selected for the Sundance Episodic Lab, his script Hummingbird landed on the annual Black List, and he’s been featured on the Young and Hungry List. John has assisted on several shows, including Legion for FX, Sexy Beast for Paramount Network, and Utopia for Amazon. Currently, John is adapting the hit true crime podcast Swindled for MRC, with Liz Hannah and Hilary Leavitt producing.
