Just People (2025 - 2026)
Film by The FilmGirl Project Director/Producer In a world full of social distractions and distortion, we find ourselves yearning for escapism and meaningful human interaction through means of community, creation and connection. The goal of this documentary is to break societal stereotypes about fandoms and fame by humanizing the convention going experience. We start off by speaking to fans ranging from artists, vendors, cosplayers and autograph collectors about their experiences not only consuming the media they grew up with, but manifesting it into their daily lives and businesses. This leads into some of them speaking about their personal experiences meeting certain celebrities at conventions and how those encounters have impacted their lives in a positive way. We will then speak to Talent or "celebrities" who will share their experiences with fans at conventions, their relationship with fame and being in the public eye as well as how they feel about the public's perception of cons. This is also a teachable moment for fans to kind of show them why it's important to see someone as a person first, not just as a "celebrity". Finally, we will talk to a convention manager. Someone who has been on both sides of the table as a fan as well as working with Talent to get their third party POV. This will be a teachable moment for people on the outside who don't quite understand why spaces like this matter.
