Jaimini Jethwa

I’ve been working as a writer and filmmaker since graduating University of Westminster with a BA (Hons) Filmmaking, for over twenty years. I gained a MA PgDip (Screenwriting) and was shortlisted in America with my first feature film. I’ve had training with BBC in radio and TV writing. I also attended the National Film School. I’m now part of the BBC new writers. I have also worked as a filmmaker with award winning documentaries in human rights. I also wrote and directed several short films with BBC films and Glasgow Media Access Centre, which were shown at the Edinburgh Film Festival. In addition, I had several films showcased and sold out at Dundee DCA, one of which won several awards. I also wrote several spec scripts for TV shows and was short-listed with EastEnders, Casualty, Hollyoaks, and River City, I also was shortlisted with my comedy sketches for Sketchotopia as well as BBC radio 4. I met with STV last year and they have continued contact. In addition to my own practice I worked teaching, writing, and filmmaking to young people across the UK, and several of those films went onto festival success around the world ‘No Dowry No Date’, won awards. In addition, several films were used by Scottish government. I also work for Abertay University as a Digital Content Producer this work involves making promotional marketing material for the University as well as showcasing prominent research work.

Last year I wrote several scripts for the BBC ‘All Rise’ set in Dundee Sheriff Court and looks at the relationships between the clients and their Solicitors some of these relationships are more than thirty years in the making. I wrote several episodes and also treatment and episode breakdowns.

I also wrote a RADIO 4 script which was based on this idea but focused on the G4 Security team.

I also wrote three more scripts for the BBC last year.

I have also written two feature films one of which was in development with BBC Films with Sharon Channer for several years, I met with Andrea Molyneaux BBC Films who was interested in this.

The other feature film was shortlisted in America under the Chesterfield Screenwriting Competition. I worked on this script with Tony Grisoni who wrote the screenplay for ‘Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas’. I also have several sold out theatre plays:
