Shanna Bowie

Hi, my name is shanna bowie. I am a storyteller who loves genre stories fronted by complicated women. Since grade school, people have always asked me how I find the time to watch so much television and the honest answer is: I don’t find the time, I make the time because I love stories.

I’ve straddled a lot of worlds in my life, from housing projects in Brooklyn to bougie New England boarding schools, but when I’m living inside stories that feels more real than anything else. My craft also helps me make deeper connections to the real world.

After settling in Oakland, I’ve spent my time as an educator, arts advocate, and media critic. I believe in the power of storytelling to illuminate the world and I’m going to shine.
