Author and screenwriter, Jason Shohara, has published his science fiction novel Kami Jin in 2009 as an e-book through Smashwords, and as a paperback in 2010 through Wordclay. He is a former staff writer for Drum Corps News, and has written for various other magazines, newsletters and blogs. He also is a member of the Greater Los Angeles Writers Society and has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Creative Writing from California State University, Long Beach and has studied creative writing under Dora Beale Polk. He has studied screenwriting through the Open Door Program sponsored by the Writers Guild of America, West in Los Angeles. Jason has judged screenplays for the Honolulu, Mexico, and Las Vegas international film festivals.
He has been active in civic government as a commissioner, board member on non-profit organizations, and is a political activist striving for social and economic justice and equality for the homeless. Although happily married with family, he also supports LGBT issues, having longtime friends and acquaintances in this community. Jason has worldwide friends, fans and supporters on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and MySpace. Jason is very highly spiritual, but is also fascinated with science, medicine and politics. As for his political and religious views, he considers himself totally independent – a Universalist.
Jason has studied behavioral science, psychology, and adult education through his educational experiences at the University of California at Los Angeles.
