David Hoggan's Reel

Inspired by the coming convergence of the telecommunications, computer and entertainment industries, this short film celebrates the very technologies that made its creation possible. The film consists of live action shot in 16mm combined with 2D and 3D animation produced on Apple Macintosh systems with off-the-shelf tools.

A promotional film created for a wire and cable company that was celebrating its 30th anniversary doing business in Silicon Valley. The film was also to serve as a sales tool as well as a new-employee orientation piece. Company founder Al Storm said the film managed to make the wire business appear glamorous.

While working for Distance Learning Startup Pensare, Inc., we were approached to create a prototype interactive video for PricewaterhouseCoopers designed to acquaint their representatives to better advise their clients with newly established Internet business practices.

I was approached by the Palo Alto Medical Foundation to create a video that acquainted their Radiation Oncology patients with the procedures they were about to undergo. The goal was to alleviate any fears or concerns patients may have about their treatment regimen.

Star Trek fan films may be all the rage these days, but 30 years ago, that wasn't the case. Armed with nothing but youthful exuberance and downright cluelessness, a group of young Bay Area filmmakers set about to create a cinematic representation of their love for Star Trek.
