Orphaned by a dust bowl twister, a spunky fifteen-year-old follows her dreams to Hollywood, discovering a new family along the way.

SYNOPSIS:

In 1934 fifteen-year-old Millie Denslow dreams of becoming a movie star in Hollywood. She saves her mother from rape by shooting the assailant, a Texas pimp, only to have her parents killed and her pitiful dustbowl life destroyed by a tornado. She takes the pimp’s car and follows her dream West on Route 66. She befriends three misfits along the way: a hobo, a cowboy, and an Indian bank robber. Two men chase her: a retired sheriff convinced of her innocence and a Texas gang boss bent on revenging the death of his pimp brother. With a little help from her new friends she reaches Hollywood and finds out that her real life is much richer than the one she dreams about.
