For this video our band Reigndear wanted to do something special, but had no camera and no budget, so I started searching the net for different kinds of free footage. I came across NASA's webpage, which offered free HD footage, as long as it was credited to NASA. The outcome of the find is as you see. Skating has always been close to my heart. When I was in Taiwan I befriended many skaters and used to go skate and film them. This video was made purely for fun, but allowed me to explore my artistic boundaries and learn new editing techniques, which I have used since. This video was shot by the marketer for Rani Resorts and I was then approached to put it together. It was a challenge, as the camera operator had never shot anything before this, and finding the gems in amongst the shaky, out of focus, burnt out or underexposed footage was not an easy task. A company that I was working for was commissioned to do this advertisement. Utilizing a non-monetry exchange I managed to organize a deal through Toshiba to place one of their laptops in the ad in exchange for three high-end fully-loaded Toshiba laptops. This production was extremely challenging. The footage was a mixture between high-end and beginner work. Finding the healthy balance between the two for the very low budget that it was made for was not an easy task, but I absolutely loved working on this. I learned how to utilize compositing for this video to gain maximum affect for poor quality footage. Not usually doing such things and having very limited time I used loops and samples from Logic Pro in order to compose the soundtrack for this piece.
