I'm more than a little fascinated by India, yet still underexposed to it. Watching the new indie film, The Playback Singer, was one more glimpse into a culture that never ceases to compel my interest. Of course, this story takes place in Los Angeles, but no matter.

Like a lot of bands from the 1960s, The Cowsills soon disappeared from view -- 1910 Fruitgum Company, anyone? -- and I didn't give them much thought until last week when I was invited to watch a new documentary film by Louise Palanker, Family Band: The Cowsills Story, about the real family behind the singing family.

I'm told that Treachery, an explosive new family drama starring Matthew Ziff and Michael Biehn, is still being put together in post-production in anticipation of its test screening at this year's Sunscreen Film Festival, April 18th to 21st in downtown St. Petersburg, Florida.
