SYNOPSIS:

Jenny is a struggling actress in New York. She was estranged by her jealous sisters and a brother after leaving the family to pursue her career. As their mother is dying, Jenny’s family falsifies her will, in which they get everything and leave Jenny only her mother’s lot of big but worthless costume jewelry. In deep depression because of her beloved mother’s loss Jenny is now pressed by financial burdens as well. At the encouragement of the whimsical old lady who just moved into the room next to her, Jenny decides to sell some of the pieces to make the ends meet. The jeweler, recommended by the old lady, is eager to buy not only the present pieces but also everything else in Jenny’s possession. Excited, Jenny is about to sell it, when the jeweler’s young apprentice, David, tells her the truth. The jewelry she possesses is real and is worth a huge fortune. David helps Jenny to appraise her jewelry and to safely deposit it into a high security vault. Jenny and David fall in love. Meanwhile, the jeweler restless over his loss seeks out Jenny’s family and tells them about Jenny’s fortune. For his cut, he offers them a master plan to take back some of the jewelry from Jenny. Jenny’s family accuses her of falsifying her mother’s will and takes her to court for grand theft. They are unable to prove any wrongdoing on her part, but the judge offers them to share jewelry equally among the family. Jenny agrees. Through evil manipulations of the jeweler, Jenny becomes dubious of David’s real motivation. Jenny thinks that David is using her for her riches. Offended, David leaves Jenny. Drunk by their unexpected fortune and knowing how much Jenny wanted to be back in her mother’s house, the family offers Jenny all the other possessions that she was previously deprived of for exchange for some more jewelry. Jenny agrees again. Jenny gets the possession of the house and all the other family property. Her family brings the jewelry to a famous auction house to sell only to discover that the jewelry previously appraised by top New York City appraisers is now mysteriously fake. The infuriated family takes Jenny back to court. To Jenny’s surprise David comes to her rescue powerfully testifying in her defense. He discredits the family as trying to hustle more money from Jenny. The court appraisal certificate claims that the jewelry was real and precious. The judge does not believe the family, assuming that the family simply made fake copies and is after Jenny for some more wealth. The family is thrown out of the court, as Jenny and David reunite in love. Angered over the loss of all of their possessions to Jenny, the older sister throws her fake diamond ring at Jenny. The ring falls into the snow. To the cheers of the crowd and the press surrounding a high profile court drama, David picks up the ring and puts it on Jenny’s finger proposing her to be his wife. Suddenly, the ring glows in the Christmas evening sky, as Jenny and David realize that it is real. Overwhelmed by the magic surrounding them, they rush to the old lady to celebrate Christmas with her only to discover a lone worker painting the room. The worker swears that there has never been an old lady leaving in the apartment. Jenny is shocked and does not believe the worker. The worker is persistent in saying that the room has been vacant for months. In complete awe, Jenny is about to leave the room when the worker remembers an envelope that he found by the door with Jenny’s name on it. He hands it over to them smiling mischievously. Jenny opens the envelope where she finds a picture of the old lady with her mother wearing the ring that David picked up from the snow. On the bottom is her mother’s handwritten note saying, ‘I have always loved you and I will always watch out for you. Merry Christmas, Mommy.’ David and jenny look at each other realizing that the old lady was an
