SYNOPSIS:

He was a well-known Hollywood actor stepping into stardom with ties to the Mafia — “Mr. Cool” of the New York social scene; she was a simple girl from a Long Island working-class family. He hated his life and saw despair and misery everywhere he looked; she was blessed with the gift of love and smiles for everyone she met. He loved her because she was the beauty; she loved him because he was the beast. Every abuse story is the same in its misery; each is different in its outcome. “A Prayer for the Wounded” is the real-life story of a woman who loved a man who did not love himself. Something was holding her to him, even after all those brutal beatings. Each time she would try to leave him, he would cry and beg for her forgiveness. He preyed on her compassion, using his severely abused childhood. His career was going down in flames — he was losing one acting job after another for missing call times and getting into fights with directors and producers. In the midst of her despair, Jeani began writing a journal that would help her to overcome her predicament and her pain. Through her visions and prayers, she found a way to break free from her prison of fear. She realized that she loved Bobby more than she respected herself. She realized that only the understanding of one’s own worth could set one free from the repeating pattern of abuse. Jeani’s journal became a powerful self-help book that continues helping women all over the world to break free from abusive relationships and low self-esteem. Jeani’s prayer is not for the abused only, but also for the abusers, because abusers and abused are equally wounded in their misery.
