Sol Capasso

In 2004 I decided to study the Audio-vision Bachelor’s Degree in the National University of Lanus, unique in Latin America. One year later the professor and coordinator of the Degree, proposed me the multi-medial operator position at Metrovision, one of the two most important Houses of postproduction in Buenos Aires. Studying and working at the same time is not easy, but the passion and the dedication allowed me to perform very satisfactorily both activities and take as much advantage as possible, of all the knowledge around me. I worked so hard that only six months later I was hired as postproduction supervisor at Bendercine, one of the most important House of production of Buenos Aires. This step permitted me not only to increase my knowledge but to collaborate with prestigious directors, DOPs and compositing artists at national and international level.
Being on the cinematographic environment and exploring different areas, helped me to realize that direction of photography is the area I really feel passion about, so I started to work freelance as video assist operator and editor on-set in order to easily introduce myself in the production area with activities I already handled, having in this way the opportunity to understand from closer the job of the DOP. At the same time I took a course of video camera operator and another one of colorimetry, that enabled me to make some works as colorist as well. During the years I was in Argentine, I had the chance to work with important advertisement agencies as Santo BA, Ogilvy, JWT, Leo Burnett and Young & Rubicam, just to mention some of them. This allowed me to understand better the professional dynamic of the whole process.
In 2009 I moved out to Italy, because of its long and important cinematographic trajectory, where I work for the first year as postproduction supervisor to make myself known in the environment. After this I started to work freelance as video camera operator and video editor.
