About Nickey

Nickey Lewin Jr, born in Miami, FL on January 8th, is a Jamaican- American actor, singer, musician, writer, and stage play director. Lewin’s first introduction to film and broadcasting took place in the sixth grade where he attended Attucks Middle School for the Broadcasting and Communications magnet program. There he enjoyed three fulfilling years as an outstanding student, filming his own short films for class, mainly working behind the camera. However, little did he know that in the future there would be an opportunity not just for behind the scenes work. In the spring of 2009, Lewin decided to stop pursuing a career in Sports Management and auditioned for Cynthia Bell Production’s “Two wrongs Don’t Make It Right”. Lewin at the young age of 21 received raving reviews for his portrayal of a young and cocky, hot shot attorney in search for the perfect trophy wife. After that performance and a few more lead role gigs in theatre, he was more than convinced that performing arts and acting was the path to choose. In the summer of 2010 he traveled to New York in search of auditions for intriguing roles in film and theatre. In New York, full of excitement, he was drawn to and contacted for different independent projects with interesting storylines but was soon disappointed to find out that the preference race for the leading roles weren’t for an African American. With very few opportunities for creative stories available for African American actors, Lewin decided to take matters into his own hands. He has begun to the necessary steps in producing his own stage plays and films with storylines not often made for African Americans. Lewin plans to continue his pursuit for a prestigious acting career and has great ambitions to revolutionize the film industry for all African American actors and actresses everywhere. Nickey Lewin Jr also loves to see children with smiles on their faces and realizes how important young people are to the future of this world. He wants to give back to the children in his home country of Jamaica by raising funds for the St. Elizabeth Orphanage located in St. Elizabeth, Jamaica. Lewin hopes that God will continue to bless him in a way he can continue to be a blessing to the young people of Jamaica and all over the world.
