About Stefan

Focus of Stefans’ directorial aesthetic is use of projected media and experimentation with the sound as dramaturgical source for creating stage narratives that are going beyond traditional linear text based theatre. In theatre he is looking for poetic reasoning that is closer to the principles on which thought develops.
Stefan is an alumnus of Directors Lab (2011) at the Lincoln Centre Theatre in New York.
His other selected directing credits include: Fortune and Men's Eyes (BirdLand Theatre), Gruesome Playground Injuries (BirdLand Thetre, Toronto) Roberto Zucco (Studio Theatre, Edmonton), Anime (Lucid Productions, Edmonton), The Creation of the world and other business (The System Theatre, Edmonton) and After the Fall (Studio Theatre, Edmonton).
He was also Production Dramaturge for Assassins by Stephen Sondheim (produced by BirdLand Theatre 2010 Dora Award winner for the Outstanding Production of a Musical) directed by Adam Brazier and is Assistant Director to Daniel Brooks on Divisadero, by Michael Ondaatje.
Stefan is also accomplished theatre educator. He taught Creative Performance Studies and Scene Studies at the Drama Department, University of Alberta; Creative Performance Studies I&II at Ryerson Theatre School in Toronto.
Stefan was nominated for the Sterling Award in Directing.
