Aaron Fisher (27) is a recent graduate of The School of Visual Arts. Aaron has written, directed, edited, and acted in many of his own short films. His previous short film, ‘The Hospital Visit,’ has been accepted into The Big Apple Film Festival and The Williamsburg International Film Festival. It received praise from two-time Academy Award winning director Barbara Kopple: “With a powerful vision on the effects of mental illness, Aaron Fisher directs ‘The Hospital Visit’ with utter authenticity, providing an intimate look at the brutal fragility of those suffering emotional disorders. Beautifully acted.” ‘The Hospital Visit’ screened at Lehigh University where Aaron did a Q&A. Aaron's latest short film, 'Love Out of Mind,' has been accepted into ten festivals so far, including the Big Apple Film Festival and Max Ophuls Prize Festival in Germany.
Aaron has a lot of experience and expertise in directing actors. He has taken acting classes at The Barrow Group, as well, in order to inform his directing.
Aaron studied and practiced studio photography for over a year in order to gain an excellent hands on knowledge of various lenses and to gain experience lighting models. He is dedicated to being a lifelong student of both photography and acting in order to become a film director with expertise in both of these fields.
Aaron has lots of experience and expertise working with Final Cut Pro (both FCP 7 and FCP X), the Adobe CS6 suite and CC suite, Avid, and other post-production and photography software. He has substantial experience and knowledge of post-production workflows with most digital formats, including RAW footage captured on RED or Alexa cameras.
Aaron has many creative leadership abilities– he founded a film festival in the summer of 2012, the Park Slope Film Festival, which received a lot of press, including an article on DNAinfo.com.
Aaron has worked on several projects with producer Bob Jason (A DIRTY SHAME by John Waters)– and often works with Josh Fisher, an accomplished cinematographer (joshfisherdp.com).
Aaron comes from a family of filmmakers. His favorite films are The Graduate, Bonnie and Clyde, and 2001: A Space Odyssey. Aaron is looking forward to directing his first feature film within the next couple of years.
