About Andrew

Andrew M. A. Spear, a graduate of York University's film program, began his career in TV as a writer, producer and director of commercials and PSA's. He has produced, written and directed several short films. Recently his family short (based on his feature script), Christmas Is Believing was an official selection at several international film festivals including; The Chicago International REEL Shorts Film Festival, The Toronto International Short Film Festival and The Sochi International Film Festival in Russia. He followed that up by producing, writing and directing an extremely personal short, Always On My Mind. The story of a man who tries to get his wife, who suffers with Alzheimer's, to remember their life together. The film won an Award of Distinction at the 2016 Canada Shorts Film Festival. Recently, his script for The Ballerina was the winner of the short competition at The Southern California Screenplay Competition and a Semi-Finalist at the Hollywood Just4 Shorts Film and Screenplay Competition.
