About Frederic

Frederic was born and raised in New York City. He was schooled at home and a history junkie until he enrolled in Sarah Lawrence College, where he pursued history, foreign policy, writing and literature. While at SLC he was selected as their delegate for SCUSA, a foreign affairs conference held at West Point, where he discussed counter-insurgency tactics, was a Student Senator, and shared his work with the Board of Trustees. He was also Editor-In-Chief of the Phoenix, the school newspaper. Frederic received the Vicki-Eaton Scholarship for his SLC community engagement and financial need. He was granted special exemption from New York State to receive his Bachelor’s from SLC without a high-school diploma or GED.

For over three years, Frederic worked as a volunteer at the Museum of Jewish Heritage-A Living Memorial To The Holocaust, where he assisted in collections & exhibitions with transcriptions of witness testimonies and historical research. Frederic also worked after graduation for the SLC Communications department, as a freelance journalist and writer.

Upon graduation from Sarah Lawrence, Frederic was delighted to be accepted into The American Film Institute in Los Angeles, where he studied Screenwriting. While at AFI he wrote and co-wrote four short films, including his thesis short-film, MACHSOM, which he co-authored with Joel Novoa, an AFI directing fellow. MACHSOM premiered in Los Angeles this past March, and was selected as one of five AFI thesis films to be screened at the DGA in LA. It was recently awarded the Special Jury Prize from the Bermuda International Film Festival.

During his time at AFI, he also wrote four feature-length screenplays: AFPAK, APPEARANCES, OPERATION BLACKBEARD, and ANOTHER LIFE. APPEARANCES went onto 1st place in the feature length screenplay category of the Slamdance Screenwriting competition. He also wrote two TV Pilots, "The Concession", and "Al's Qaeda". The “Concession,” was the 2012 AFI Nominee for the student Humanitas award. “Al’s Qaeda”, was selected as a quarter finalist in the Austin Film Festival.

He received the Phillip and Patricia Barry Scholarship while at AFI. Frederic has interned as a script analyst for Goldcrest Films and a development intern for Film Rites (Steve Zaillian’s production company). He works as a freelance script reader for several companies.
