SYNOPSIS:

“DOWN SOUTH BLUES” is an action-comedy that tells the story of a bounty hunter, who's forced to bring his jewel-thief bail jumper to his 4th of July weekend family reunion in Atlanta to evade the FBI and the thief's murderous ex-partner as he takes him back to Chicago and cashes in on his biggest bounty. Bounty hunter Russell Blues is hired by his bail bondsman to bring jewel thief El Bankston back to Chicago to collect his biggest bounty to pay off the tax lien on his house within 30 days before it's foreclosed by the bank. He finds out that El is hiding out in his hometown Atlanta. Russell travels back to his hometown and captures El. He can't get El back to Chicago fast enough. Only one problem: all transportation is booked for the 4th of July weekend. With El’s ex-partner Demarco Reno hell-bent on revenge, and FBI agents Scruggs and Dameron hot on their trail; Russell is forced to bring El to Russell’s parents' house for his family reunion. When El's rare stolen diamond goes missing; they must find it before Reno does, before the FBI catch up to them, or before Russell's family discovers the truth. Russell takes El back to Chicago for his big reward and pays off his lien. But, not before they become unlikely friends to outwit the FBI agents, find the diamond and take down Reno.
