About Peter

During my time at Staffordshire University I was taught to use tools such as Logic Pro, Cubase, Reason and protools to create and edit audio. I also volunteered as a technician in the student union club setting the venue for live performances as well as a video shoot and many of the students theme nights which gave me an insight into the varied tasks which a Theatre Technician would be asked to do. This was as well as the varied modules which were asked of me to complete my degree which included my final year dissertation on 5.1 microphone placement and recording techniques.
Upon leaving university I applied for a Theatre Technician job but was told that I did not have enough working knowledge for the role, I then started to volunteer at a local theatre. This gave me the opportunity to work in the a fully operational theatre and develop my professional skills. Although my speciality is sound, whilst at the theatre I had the chance to set up intelligent lighting which I had not had chance to do before.

While working at Butlins Holiday Resort in Skegness I was in charge of the sound and A/V systems in the Skyline Pavilion, which included troubleshooting sound and A/V problems and when the lighting technician was not in the venue also fixed any problems with the lighting system.
I worked closely with the A/V Technicians and Lighting Technicians in the two other venues and became skilled at operating the lighting desks and maintaining the moving and generic lights. I’m also able to use advanced A/V systems including fixed automated cameras and multiple input/output A/V switch boxes.

I have also been the sole technician assigned to a venue and left to my own devices to make sure bands and the venue were setup before the venue was opened, as well as during it was open, and that the nights ran smoothly for customers and the bands.
