Bio for Joel David Taylor, Coordinator for Theater Arts and Dance FWISD
Joel David Taylor has been the Coordinator for Theatre Arts and Dance with Fort Worth ISD since 2008. Mr. Taylor has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theatre and Social Sciences from Friends University in Wichita, Kansas and a Masters of Arts in Education Administration with additional graduate hours in Secondary languages and Cultures as well as Gifted and Talented from Texas Wesleyan University in Fort Worth, Texas. He has worked in education for 23 years and holds education certifications in Social Sciences Comprehensive secondary level, Drama on the secondary level and Principal certification EC-12.
Mr. Taylor has taught courses that include Drama, Psychology, Sociology, History, Economics, Government, Geography and Journalism for grade levels 6 through college level courses. Administrative positions that Mr. Taylor has held during his career in education have included Dean of Students in Bailey, Colorado, Director of DAEP in Marlin, Texas and currently serves as the Coordinator for Theatre and Dance with Fort Worth ISD.
Mr. Taylor adds decades of professional performing arts background and experience working to his experience as an educator. Since first stepping on stage in the mid 1970’s, Mr. Taylor has been blessed to have worked with noted actors that include Christopher Walken and Glenn Close in the Hallmark Hall of Fame film SKYLARK, as well as with Teri Polo, Tia Carerre, Linda Leonard, Matt Socia in the Life Time Movie Channel Film TAKEN FOR RANSON, recent episode of Discovery Channel’s AIRPLANE REPO with Kevin Lacey and numerous area and regional commercials that include Oklahoma Tourist Bureau, Texas Lottery, Wyoming Lottery, Baylor-Scott and White Health Centers, Pizza Hut, Sleep Experts and training films with FWISD Communications Department.
Believing that it is crucial to continue learning in any profession, Mr. Taylor regularly presents and attends workshops in the education and performing arts areas. As a professional stage and film performer, director and producer. Mr. Taylor has International Movie Data base (IMDB) credits. He is an adjudicator for Texas UIL Film competitions, adjudicator for Dallas Summer Musicals, published theatre critic with The Column Awards and workshop presenter for Texas Educational Theatre Association (TETA). He is represented in the performing arts by the Linda McAlister Talent Agency.
