HEADHUNTERS
By Karen Albright Lin

GENRE: Sci-fi, Comedy
LOGLINE:

The parched earth’s future teeters in the balance as one woman is pursued by deadly rivals while she races to find the cryogenically-preserved head of her scientist grandfather.

SYNOPSIS:

Mallory abhors all things cryogenic, from her friend’s white middle finger transplanted onto her black hand to the smarmy co-worker’s head transplanted crookedly--only fitting given his duplicitous nature. But she becomes torn when transplants become serious business. The quest for a cryogenically-preserved head forces Mallory into action. The ozone nearly gone, crops failing. The future depends on Mallory finding her precious Grandpa’s missing head. Her only “living” relative is the key to saving the world.

Mallory posts a scientific teaser on the Internet, triggering a search impeded by: the U.S. Government wanting to control Grandpa and his knowledge to create an artificial ozone; the sadistic president of Tilian Global Corporation who plans to blackmail the world, and eccentric millionaire Stanton Geoffrey who keeps Grandpa in his own cryo-head collection (or so he thinks). Mallory and Stanton join forces to evade government thugs and defeat Tilian’s goons who specialize in “torture by lizard”.

Disasters mount, from heads found in wrong cryo-units to an all-out battle for Grandpa during which the seal of his cryo-unit is accidentally breached. Risking his own death, Stanton saves Grandpa and then reveals his own neck reattachment scar. The world will have its cure. Mallory gets her Grandpa back and wins the heart – and head – of Stanton Geoffrey. ****** written with Janet Fogg Headhunters is an award-winning farce with horror elements. It placed first in the Paul Gillette Memorial Writing Contest. Hollywood coverage (available) states, “Headhunters would have a wide audience appeal not only because global warming is extremely topical.” A BlueCat evaluator states that familiar exchanges are turned “in a fresh direction.” And that this movie could “get an overwhelming response from a film audience.” (franchise and TV spin-off possibilities/log lines)
