Epiphanies among Demigods, Seagulls, and Churros...

Picture this: Disney World, 1987
A plump little blonde boy bounds ahead of his parents, nibbling on a churro. A nefarious, yet dimwitted bird, hovers overhead. He strikes. The boy cries, his tasty churro flying away, precariously clutched in the beak of a FAT little seagull.

As tears soak the little boy’s t-shirt up in the sky the clouds part. A God on a
chariot floats down with a very large, very impressive camera. He hands the
boy a half-eaten churro, winks, and ascends back in the clouds from whence
he came. I was that little boy. And that’s when I knew I wanted to be that
demigod with a camera.

Okay, maybe that’s not exactly how it happened. The churro thing happened
at Sea World and the Camera Operator wasn’t on a crane, he was on a platform.
But that’s what artists do. We make the story better. And I am, above all, an
artist.

Fast-forward a whole bunch of cartoon lifetimes. After college in San Diego, I bounced around Los Angeles doing freelance work. But San Diego keeps calling. Now I’m at Shilo, doing what I do. Editing and VFX.
