After two thirteen-year-old friends argue, one of them goes missing. No one knows what exactly happened as the event becomes a forgotten footnote. Twenty years later the missing boy appears as a devious adult criminal. One of his childhood friends begins the search to bring him to justice, yet in the end his sneaky devious ways bring him down.

SYNOPSIS:

Thirteen year old friends, Dave Stagetto and Billy Keeler, argue over who the rightful boyfriend should be of Janet Marsh. Dave, upset, walks away from the argument. Billy follows him to a nearby place at Lake Defender. They continue their silly argument as Dave steps onto slippery rocks in the Lake. Billy twists away for a split second but when he turns back towards his friend Dave is missing. Billy jumps into the cold water to rescue Dave but he does not find his friend anyplace.

Dave's body is not found and there is no proof that Billy did anything unlawful.

The search for the truth is put on hold until twenty years later when a series of bank robberies in San Diego get the attention of local law enforcement and the FBI.

Billy's childhood girlfriend and current wife, Special FBI Agent Janet Keeler, teams up with local law enforcement Detective Combs to work on the case. Their painstaking investigation leads them to uncover the truth. Dave Stagetto, now living in Toronto, Canada, is behind the criminal activities as he recruits unsuspecting Canadian accomplices to further his ill deeds.

Putting Dave behind bars is much more difficult than they imagined as Dave keeps one step ahead of them. They put at risk their own careers when they decide to use two of Dave's partners-in-crime to turn against him. The scheme backfires as the two accomplices get away with a quarter of a million of dollars. They too disappear for a short time until each of them separately is captured.

Figuring the only way to take Dave into custody is to head to Toronto, Special Agent Keeler makes a trip to visit with the American Agency's counterpart in Canada. However, she soon suspects that Dave has developed a circle of co-conspirators wider than she ever imagined.

Figuring his identity is now known by the authorities, Dave decides to go under the knife to change his appearance.

His sneaky devious ways, however, are what finally brings him down as he tries to escape a slowly closing fence that eventually puts an end to his life.
