About Barr

Barr Potter is the CEO of Tripod Entertainment, Inc., which currently has a slate of feature-length scripts, and 9 one-hour scripts for a cable/streamer limited series, most of which are based on underlying IP in various genres (e.g., drama, murder/mystery, thriller/suspense, crime/black comedy, non-fiction, horror).

Barr has also served as Chairman and CEO of Largo Entertainment, Inc., a foreign sales company that handled the financing, acquisition and worldwide distribution of 20 feature films, such as "G.I. Jane" and "White Squall" (both directed by Ridley Scott), "Grey Owl" (directed by Richard Attenborough), "Mulholland Falls" (directed by Lee Tamahori and produced by Dick Zanuck), "John Carpenter's Vampires", "City of Industry" (directed by John Irvin), and "Affliction" (written and directed by Paul Schrader, which earned James Coburn an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor and a nomination for Nick Nolte as Best Actor). Largo did business with every major domestic studio, and pre-sold its films to key distributors in every major international territory.

While running Largo, Screen International, a major trade publication for those involved in foreign sales of motion pictures, included Barr on its global listing of the Power 100 (those "who can make international films happen in terms of greenlighting, packaging and financing"). Barr has spoken on industry panels in Cannes and Hong Kong, and was a member of the inaugural competition jury for the Vilnius International Film Festival. He also served as a member of the jury for Grand OFF – World Independent Film Awards held in Warsaw, Poland.

Before Largo, Barr was President and COO of Thorn EMI Screen Entertainment, Inc., the North American subsidiary of a worldwide film production/distribution company based in London.

Barr is also a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, and served for several years on the committee that initially screened international films submitted for Oscar consideration in that category.
