An African-American student in high school is stretched thin to maintain his GPA, keep his scholarship, and hold down his job at a fast food restaurant. But the situation turns from hard to hurtful when his single mother becomes wheelchair bound in a drunk driving accident and she crawls into a bottle and abuses pain pills.
