Cornell Boshoff's Reel

BMW INVESTMENT Announcement

We did conceptualisation, script, script direction, and music for this one... What a pleasure!

Wolfman by The Carnell Collective

...A little something Carel wrote and recorded a few years ago. Cornell composed some music and added SFX.

Old Khaki Unrestricted Commercial - Summer 2013

Approached by aspirant commercial director Ian Badenhorst what started as a low key online campaign proved to be so popular with the client, that it became a HD cinema commercial. Together with co-composer Shaun Crawford we did the soundtrack.

Barclaycard - simply the best

When Barclaycard was first launched in South Africa, director Dean Fourie encapsulated their brief quite beautifully. His instructions to us were very specific: commitment, prosperity and achievement. The company was very happy with what we gave them.

BrightRock - A letter from Change

Commissioned by Pressure Cooker Studios for an insurance company who wanted to highlight the importance of embracing change in our lives, we were asked to come up with a piano leitmotif that would capture the poignancy and drama that embracing change implies. The visuals were inspirational and we were able to build an enigmatic score. Sound-effects were done by Sound and Motion Studios.

Toshiba Tablet Race title score

To launch their new line of notebooks, Toshiba Computer decided to add a little secret agent mystique to their online marketing campaign. The director of the series approached us and asked for something Bond-esque. This is what he got. The campaign was a huge success.

Nedbank - The Candle (pitch only) by The Carnell Collective

The brief was expansive, evocative, emotional to suit a touching story about making the right choice.

Susanna van Biljon (music cue showreel) by The Carnell Collective

Another Franz Marx film featuring Karen Zoid in the lead role. The story of a small town girl with big city dreams is timeless and overall the film was well received. Some scenes in the film were extraordinarily challenging. One in particular, required the reworking of Mozart’s aria ‘Queen of the Night’ from the Magic Flute. In fact, thematic elements from the aria were incorporated into several of the other orchestral cues - as was the melody of the movie’s showstopper song ‘Want as ek droom’. Here’s a selection of cues

EGOLI - Afrikaners is Plesierig (music cue showreel) by The…

This was the first of our fully-fledged movie scores we did for Franz Marx Films. The story line prescribed the musical envisioning of a myriad of human emotions. The traditional folk song ‘Afrikaners is plesierig’ had to feature quite prominently, and it was thematically woven into some of the cues. Our treatment of it is particularly audible in the end credits. Here’s a selection of cues...

Supa Strikas - Music cue showreel by The Carnell Collective

For this hugely popular flash animation series, the producers were quite direct in their instruction: it had to be metal with a twist and typically over the top - and boy, was it intense! We thoroughly enjoyed mixing rock, electronica and sweeping orchestral textures.
