I WANT A GOOD MAN -- NO YOU DON'T!!!
By Robert McBride

GENRE: Drama, Romance
LOGLINE: Four women with different lives search for their idea of the perfect man; however, they soon learn that no good man is perfect... not even the one God sends.

SYNOPSIS:

CONNIE TRIFE (30's) is a single mom with a precocious son, KYLE (9). While her career is on the rise, her personal life is a constant source of disappointment. The men she dates never meet her standards, and at work she gets hit on by her sleazy colleagues. DEXTER (26), the toll collector at her office parking lot, charms Connie enough that she agrees to go out with him, however, his straight-forwardness and direct questions about her non-existent love life cause her to walk out of the date. DEBORA SIMS (late 40's) is willing to do everything for her boyfriend JAMES POISER (50's), but he never shows gratitude for her or the things she does. Upon discovering his cheating, Deborah decides she's had enough. She seeks solace at a her childhood church, where she meets the new pastor GRIFF MARTIN (early 50's). Deborah laments to Griff about the lack of good men. He asks if she would be ready for a good man if God sent her one now. VERONICA FOSTER (30's), has a spending habit -- a BAD spending habit -- and her part-time job is not enough to cover her shopping addiction. Her husband, CECIL (30'S), works hard to support them, but Veronica is still not happy and always finds something to nag him about. Cecil, unaware that Veronica has maxed out a charge card in his name and spent the money reserved for the mortgage, surprises her with an expensive Valentine's Day gift, but when he finds out what she did, it's too late. Worse still, his son, JEFFERSON (12), has to come live with them because Cecil's ex was evicted. SHEREE SIMS (26), is a college graduate whose promiscuous party- girl lifestyle has caught up with her. Hell bent on doing things her way, even if they hurt her in the end. After a talk with her ex-boyfriend, O'NEAL (27) -- the only man that's ever truly loved her besides her deceased father -- she tries to change her lifestyle in the hopes she'll live up to her potential. But with a past like her's, change doesn't come without a price. Connie's assistant, TONY, asks her to attend an awards event at his church, the same church where Griff is pastor. Afterward, Tony tries to set Connie up with their organist, who is none other than Dexter himself. Connie apologizes to Dexter and he asks her out on another date. They discuss the idea of finding your perfect match versus settling, and get to know each other better. Connie and Dexter begin to date, and Kyle likes Dexter as well, but their differences in age and lifestyle still bug Connie. Finally, Dexter can no longer stand the fact that Connie thinks of him as a child, and breaks up with her. Deborah begins seeing Griff. Things are going smoothly until she watches Griff's televised sermon and is shocked when he admits to being a former homosexual who was "cured" by religion. Griff asks her to forgive him for not telling her, it was all in his past, and what matters is that he loves her. Finally, after some soul searching and some talking to God, Deborah agrees to give him another chance. Veronica hooks up with an ex, TYLER, who is more than capable of providing for her. Cecil keeps calling her, each message getting more frantic than the previous one, but Veronica ignores him. It turns out that Jefferson was killed in a car accident. Dexter, who is Cecil's brother, is angry with Veronica for the way she treats Cecil. In an attempt to save their marriage, Cecil and Veronica see a counselor. It seems to go well, until Veronica finds out she's pregnant -- and it's more than likely Tyler's baby. Cecil throws her out. Sheree's on the right track. She's clean, working a legal job and even let go of the grudge she held towards her mother. She stops by O'Neal's place to share the good news, but she's hit with a devastating blow when O'Neal shares some great news of his own, he's preparing to propose to his girlfriend, MADISON. Sheree agrees to stay out of his life for good, but when a former associate threatens to kill her unless her debt is repaid, she goes to O'Neal for help. O'Neal, fed up with Sheree coming to him with every problem she has, refuses. Tony tells Connie that she is a fool for letting Dexter go. Connie and Dexter make up and move in together. Meanwhile, O'Neal realizes he's still in love with Sheree and decides to help her. Veronica tries to have an abortion, but Cecil stops her when he finds out there's a possibility the baby could be his. Eighteen months later, Debora and Griff are married, Dexter and Connie are happily married, O'Neal and Sheree are back together, and Veronica and Cecil have a beautiful baby girl.
