Tonya Canady

I was recently cast in 2 feature films (Complaisant/Real Talk MS) through the casting director, Tiffany Jaide Hightower which should start filming in 8/2015. One of them is actually going to spin off in to a episodic comedy which I am extremely excited about. Complaisant was one of the top rated projects with Junto Box Films where Forest Whitaker is the Co-Chair.

I am a William Esper Studio alum having studied with Bill for 2+ years. I study on-camera work consistently and coach with Rosalyn Coleman Williams at present. My background is in opera through Syracuse University and I am well versed in many genres. I am also a very strong social dancer with years of being trained in tap and jazz.

I am in the process of creating a new website with a personal touch which will be active in the next 2 weeks. It will include a blog and I am really looking forward to sharing a piece of who I am. I am a caregiver who took care of my quadriplegic mother who couldn’t speak for 8 years before she passed in 2011. I am still a caregiver for my paraplegic brother who can’t speak. I have also been a Licensed Associate Real Estate Broker with Corcoran Group since 2002. This has given me the ability to take care of my family at home while creating my own schedule to audition, work with my art, and perform.
