SYNOPSIS:

Divorced for the last 11 years, Gene (42) is a local “Hot Rod Folk Hero” as is his fabled shop “The Pink Garage”. He and a friend Rod (41) have shared the shop since high school. Ben (21) the son of Gene’s failed marriage has always sought his father’s approval, but has always felt like a nuisance, or a shop hand around the garage. Ben has decided that this year he’s going to gain his father’s respect. He will use the unfinished project, a 1957 Chevy, his father was forced to leave behind in the divorce, to show his father just who he has become. The lessons Ben learned around the garage, have been burned into his memory. He will use this knowledge against the master. While rock & roll oldies play in Gene’s garage, country music fills Ben’s life. His second passion is the guitar. Ben is injured and wakes up hospitalized telling his girlfriend about a dream that later becomes a reality. The exciting adventures Gene and Rod have touring the car cruise and show circuit, contrast the struggle Ben endures to compete against his father. This coming of age saga is completed when Ben achieves his goal. His father acknowledges his accomplishments, and a new bond between father and son is established. An understanding and resourceful Grandfather Jake, plays an important role in Ben’s success. Classic, custom cars, and hot rods are featured at car shows, cruises, a big money match race at a remote airport, a nostalgic Drag strip event, and the Dream Cruise, provide an exciting backdrop for this courageous tale. Music and relationships provide a plot, great characters complete this winning formula. This is a high concept, contemporary, drama, you need to read!
