Elizabeth Cruz, originally from New York, received a Bachelor of Music degree with performance honors from Syracuse University and a Master of Fine Arts degree from Columbia Teacher’s College. A classically trained singer, she has given several recitals including works by Brahms, Ravel and Poulenc. Her true loves are jazz and musical theater. Elizabeth has performed in several NY clubs as a soloist and with a swing group called the “Boogie Brawds.” She has also performed with many theater groups in New York, London, Tokyo and Hong Kong. She had a sell out run of her one-woman show "Sneasons of Liz" during the Hong Kong Fringe Club City Festival. This show was performed in London, New York, the Prague Fringe Festival and at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2011. In the summer of 2012, “Sneasons” was performed at the Midtown Theater Festival in New York City and was nominated for Outstanding Music & Lyrics for a Short Subject or Staged Reading. Elizabeth opened her own music education consultancy firm in Hong Kong called Overture Limited in 2010. Elizabeth has been working as a primary/secondary music teacher in the international school system for the past twelve years and is now working and residing in Beijing. She continues to perform as a freelance musician at various hotels, festivals and corporate functions. She is a member of Equity UK.
