SYNOPSIS:

Based on a student film of the same name, "Street Life" is an engaging and thought-provoking gritty tale packed with electrifying drama, racy humor, and captivating romance following the lives of three adolescent boys: Reginald "Reggie" Smith, Tyshawn Davis, and Chris Thomas. Reggie, the leader of the group, is a strong-willed young man with a fondness for literature, determined to provide a better life for himself and his loved ones. His best friend, Tyshawn: the lost and misguided bad boy of the trio, is a thrill-seeking sailor-mouthed lad whose short temper gets him in trouble. Chris, the mild-mannered savant is often stuck in the middle of his friends' antics. Reggie has grown tired of life in the ghetto. The violence, lack of personal funds, and the tragic death of a close friend has become too much for him to bear. However, he does have the love and support of his warmhearted single mother and Mr. Gardner, a well-meaning guidance counselor who becomes his mentor of sorts. He also manages to maintain a sizzling love affair with a gorgeous classmate who's more than a pretty face, all the while dealing with harassment from a vexatious quartet of thugs, led by a silly yet pernicious hoodlum known as "Meechie". In order to get the money he yearns for, he defies his own morals and values, becoming a small-time drug dealer along with Tyshawn, whereas Chris objects to their harebrained scheme. Though for a while things seem to be going smoothly, everything begins falling apart which prompts Reggie to question his decision. Tyshawn, on the other hand, has become hooked on this new lifestyle and is ready to move on to more treacherous territory, with or without Reggie's approval. Now, it is up to our protagonist to find the strength of character to do what is right and take responsibility for his actions before it's too late.
