About Dante

Originally from the southside of Chicago, I was introduced to movies and entertainment at a young age when my grandmother sat me in front of the television to keep me occupied while she did some cleaning around the house. What followed was a lifelong obsession and fascination with film. I wrote my first story in 3rd grade and first feature-length screenplay in 7th grade. After much soul searching and without regret, I’ve begun my quest for a career in the entertainment industry. My love for the arts is tempered with the reality of making a living. As an artist I know that my art may not reach every single viewer. As a person I know that my life may not touch every single person I meet. That one viewer and one person I do, makes all the sweat and tears worth it.

I am an artist first and formost for myself. Art is an escape, a release of emotions and fears. It is a place I go to for hope, light and energy. I learn about myself through my art everyday, the story is forever on going.

Currently, I am a sophomore in college at Southern Illinois University. I have been studying this field since my 2nd year of high school. I graduated from Dunbar Vocational Career Academy where I studied Digital Media/Radio-TV Broadcasting for 3 of my 4 years. I plan on obtaining a Master's degree in Cinema and Photography.

I am skilled both behind and in front of the camera. For one year, I had my own comedy webseries entitled "Rappin' Wit Ray-Ray" which is currently available for viewing on my YouTube channel: Dante Orange Studios. As an editor, I edit with Apple Final Cut Pro 7 and X (10). I have won awards for my short films- particularly, a mini-movie called "Exposed" and a comedy short called "The Alter Ego".

Aside from that, I have held jobs at True Star Magazine and at a small law firm Downtown Chicago. I enjoy many recreational activities such as skating, bowling, and swimming. I always try to be an upstanding mentor for younger males, and help bring out the best in others.

An extraordinary league of men that inspire me everyday to pursue my passion are: Steven Spielberg, Martin Scorsese, Tyler Perry, Clint Eastwood, John Singleton, Todd Phillips, Forest Whitaker, Judd Apatow, Malcolm D. Lee, and JJ Abrams.

I don't believe that good things come to those who wait. Good things come to those with determination who CANT wait. They go get it and make it happen. Many thanks to my loving family, friends, and instructors for giving me the courage and support that has allowed me to pursue my dreams!
